Hi I’m Meg! I’m a normal mom who is trying her best to live simply and enjoy the magic of childhood while it lives in my home. I had 3 kids in 22 months and learned through much trial and error that simplifying my life has decreased stress and overwhelm for me and my family.
I’m also a registered nurse with a background in the ICU and I have seen firsthand how fragile life is and how our health is a gift to be protected and honored. I try to eat simply healthy meals that are also realistic for busy parents to prepare. As my late grandmother used to say “if you have your health, you have everything.”
I’m a recovering perfectionist who believes that done is better than perfect! On this page I aim to give you practical tips to bring more simple into your life in a grounded and laid back way. I’m so glad you’re here!
Why I started this blog
I can still remember the season of motherhood that left me in tears nearly every hour of the day. My twins were potty training and my colicky newborn was sitting on my lap as all 4 of us were in the bathroom together for hours each day. I was overwhelmed beyond belief!
My house was a disaster with toys in every room, laundry was never completed start to finish, and I’m not sure I was eating much aside from protein bars and leftover kids snacks.
I needed a simple, effective, and easy reset to get our lives back into some kind of order. I started my decluttering journey with a single trash bag, learned how to make sourdough bread (and have made many failed loaves!), and started to learn more about my own nervous system and how I could better regulate my emotions to be a present parent for my little ones.

Why simplicity matters to me
As an overwhelmed new mom I felt like all I was doing was cleaning up after my toddlers all day yet my house constantly looked like a bomb of toys went off and we were all eating boxed mac and cheese way more often that I would like to admit.
After years of leaning into simplicity and adopting rhythms and routines that support a simple lifestyle I can say that our house runs smoothly on easy habits we have developed around chores and meals.
We regularly eat homemade meals that are both simple and healthy. I am not in the kitchen 24/7 nor am I making homemade bread everyday. Simple to me is intentional but does not have any pressure attached to it. I’m not in a contest for the most minimal home or the healthiest food. I’m here to be more present in the lives of my family and trying to nourish us all with connection and healthful food!

What I believe about family life
Calm homes and routines are not built overnight and they don’t look the same for everyone! Simplicity and calm at home takes some intention and time but I promise with repeating some easy daily habits you will get there. There is no perfect or right way to do this and I urge you to lean into function that works for your family over aesthetic designs of systems you think you should be doing.
For example, my girls literally have bins on the floor of their closets where they keep dresses. The dresses do not get folded – the goal here is independence for my kids to get dressed not an instagram worthy closet. I tried the “pretty” closet and it was not functional at all for us. So we pivoted and now they are independent in getting dressed in the mornings.
You deserve to have peace and calm in your home. I can’t guarantee it will be quiet or look like it’s from a magazine, but I can tell you that simplifying your life can really go a long way to bringing calm to the chaos. You can start this process today with no pressure and no timeline.
If you’re here, you’re right where you need to be
If you’re reading this now and you are feeling totally and completely overwhelmed or just feel like you life looks so different than it used to and you don’t know how to get back to yourself, I want you to know that you can and you will.
Life as a parent is utterly overstimulating. Someone always needs you, there is always a mess to clean up, a meal to prep or cook, an outfit to wash, a boo-boo to kiss. The days can often feel frantic, chaotic, loud, messy, and so hard. I’m here to remind you that by learning to making easy and healthful food, decluttering slowly, and being present and intentional in your parenting journey, you can bring calm to your home.
I see you and I’m here with you! Crying in the bathroom, taking a deep breath as you clean up the 4th spill of the morning, celebrating the win as you drop off a donation bag to the consignment shop. Together we can lean into simplicity and away from overwhelm. I’m so glad you are here with me on this wild ride of parenthood.
Meg
